London Fashion Week 2017

Ask anyone--I live for street style, especially when it's done well. I am constantly taking major style inspiration from the people who walk the streets of New York, London, Paris, and Milan. There's something about the city lifestyle that I find myself drawn to, and it shows in how I piece together my day to day outfits and where I constantly find myself shopping.

I love all the layering and the pops of color and the different textures that add interest to these ensembles, and not to mention the show-stopping handbags and killer pair of shoes that you always see these It-girls wearing. Most of my styling tips come from watching and reading about how these city girls get ready for the day.

New York Fashion Week 2017

And while I'm currently living in a suburban town, the fashion lover within me can't help but dress like I'm about to get a coffee and run errands in a fashion capital city. But too, I have mastered the toned down-practical-wearable version of some of this season's street style trends.

Let it be known that come February, when I will be staying in London for a month, nothing will be holding me back when it comes to letting my inner city chic out.

Take a look at some of these street style trends that I currently can't get enough of and that I am including into my wardrobe.

NO. 1 - CHECKED OUT

Fashionably, of course.

Emma Hill, a style blogger from London, is the queen of wearing this print and incorporating into her very neutral, minimal-chic wardrobe that I envy. She is the epitome of a London girl and someone who I take advice from when it comes to which capsule pieces I need to invest in.

NO. 2 - TOMBOY FLARE - MASCULINE MEETS FEMININE

We wear it better.

I can't get enough of masculine pieces: structured men's coat, crisp white button downs, and oversized suiting pieces--they are perfect to offset the typical tailored women's wear. It creates a nice contrast when paired with signature feminine items like a silk blouse or lace slip dress. I love how this new tailoring trend was brought to the forefront this season. There's something about how effortlessly sexy and confident this trend is that intrigues me. Kate Moss and Alexa Chung seem to master it perfectly in my eyes.

NO. 3 - RED HOT

The bold pop of color your wardrobe needs. Thank me later.

Everyone loves a bold statement and whether it be a bright red tomato sweater or a slouchy pair of over-the-knee boots, you can't go wrong with at least trying out this fun pop of color trend. As seen almost everywhere in New York during Fashion Week, thanks Rihanna and Elsa Hosk for being daring and bold showstoppers.

NO. 4 - A TURTLENECK THAT FITS ME + YOU

It's big enough to swim in.

Oversize anything is a must. But an oversize turtleneck that you can swim in? That's actually heaven. Pair it with a pair of suede thigh high boots, and it's effortlessly chic and ready for the fall/winter. After all, that's what street style is all about--being effortless in the most extravagant and over the top way. When you break these outfits down, you most likely have some of these pieces in your own wardrobe.

NO. 5 - OUTERWEAR THAT MAKES YOU STARE

Don't worry it's faux.

What is street style without a good head-turning outerwear piece? From masculine cut coats to the classic trench all the way to the (faux hopefully) fur statements being made from the streets of Paris, there's a statement third-piece for everyone. Jarin Pat, a fashion student from the Philippines, does this fur statement I can't get enough of.

NO. 6 - LEATHER MINIS ANYONE?

It's perfect for every occasion.

An essential in every Parisian girl's wardrobe (it seems like). It's easy to dress up or down, which means it can be worn multiple times and for different occasions--something that I have learned is BIG in a Parisian's wardrobe. They like to be able to wear an item over and over again in various, stylish ways. Jodie, a French style blogger from Rennes, makes any girl want to throw on a leather mini and call it a day.

NO. 7 - PURE WHITE SHOES

Brighter than my future.

How they stay so white and pristine? Beats me, but they give any outfit a clean and elevated appearance. Whether it's an all white Adidas Stan Smith sneaker for a tomboyish look or a pair of white leather booties for a nostalgic 60s mod feel, this trend has been a favorite and seen all over the streets of Milan. Tia Taylor, an American-Jamican turned Milan city girl who makes fashion, beauty, and Italian vs. American lifestyle YouTube videos does this trend justice. Love you girl, but seriously, how do you keep them so clean?!

NO. 8 - WHO STOLE THE BAKER BOY'S HAT?

Or was it your grandad's?

Morgan Lillian and Sincerely Laura Leigh, style bloggers from Seattle, WA, have convinced me that I need a baker boy's hat. The shape of this hat is pretty flattering on most girls, which is probably why so many people have bought into it. It's an easy way to accessorize and make an outfit seem more put together. Definitely throwing one of these into my suitcase for traveling.
